UPS installation,How to install the 380V 415V 3 phases UPS?
Jun 09,2025
3-phase UPS is widely used in medical equipment like CT, wave soldering, industrial equipment, server room and data center. ShenzhenZLPOWER Electric Co., Ltd. specializes in the production and supply of transformer type low frequency 3-phase UPS since 2007. We have rich experience in production and installation of 3-phase UPS with power of 100KVA 120KVA 160KVA 200KVa 300KVA. We are pleased to share information about the installation method of 380V 415V three-input and three-output UPS system. The wiring method of 3-phase UPS includes connecting to the three-phase input power supply and connecting to the three-phase output load. The specific wiring steps are as follows:

1.Understand the wiring method of three-input and three-output UPS
Three-input: Indicates that the UPS input is a three-phase power supply (L1, L2, L3), usually 380V/400V AC, plus a neutral line (N) and a protective ground line (PE).
- Three-phase output: Indicates that the output of the UPS is also a three-phase power supply (L1, L2, L3), plus a neutral line (N) and a protective grounding line (PE).
The three-input and three-output wiring is suitable for larger power loads. Typical application scenarios are large server rooms, data centers, industrial equipment and other systems that require three-phase balanced loads.
2. Input power wiring (three-in)
When inputting UPS, you need to connect the three-phase power supply, grounding and neutral wires as follows:
- L1(Phase A): Connect to Phase A of the input distribution box.
- L2(Phase B): Connect to Phase B of the input distribution box.
- L3(Phase C): Connect to Phase C of the input distribution box.
- N (Neutral): Connect the neutral wire of the distribution box.
- PE (ground wire): connected to the protective earth of the power distribution system.
3. Output power wiring (three-outlet)
When outputting UPS, the wiring is similar to input, connecting the output terminal of UPS to the load:
- L1(Phase A): Connect to Phase A of the load device.
- L2(Phase B): Connect to Phase B of the load device.
- L3(Phase C): Connect to Phase C of the load device.
- N (Neutral): Connect to the neutral line of the load device.
- PE (ground wire): Connect to the ground of the load equipment.
4. Notes
- Phase sequence detection: When wiring, make sure that the phase sequence of the input and output three-phase power is consistent. Wrong phase sequence may cause the device to malfunction or malfunction.
- Wire diameter selection: According to the power and distance of the UPS, select the appropriate wire diameter to ensure that the cable can carry the required current.
- Grounding: Ensure that the grounding is good. The grounding resistance should comply with local electrical regulations and is usually required to be less than 4Ω.
- Circuit breaker: Configure appropriate circuit breakers for UPS input and output to ensure overcurrent protection and safety during power outages.
5. Wiring Diagram Overview
Input side: UPS output side:
-----------------------------------------------
L1 (Phase A) ----------- L1 (Phase A) ----------- Load L1 (Phase A)
L2 (Phase B) ----------- L2 (Phase B) ----------- Load L2 (Phase B)
L3 (Phase C) ----------- L3 (Phase C) ----------- Load L3 (Phase C)
N (Neutral) ----------- N (Neutral) ----------- Load N (Neutral)
PE (ground wire) ----------- PE (ground wire) ----------- Load PE (ground wire)
In this way, the three-phase balanced input power is connected to the UPS, and the UPS then outputs stable three-phase power to the load.
